Introduction
Physical
punishment is a controversial topic that has been perpetuated for a long time,
however, this does not mean that it is the effective way to achieve good
parenting of children. Hence the importance of providing psychoeducation to
parents and caregivers so that they learn to use alternative methods of
discipline.
Arguments in favor:
Guidelines for assertive parenting
Positive discipline as a tool for parents
With good parenting, the development of interpersonal skills is promoted.

Arguments against
Lower cognitive development,
which can generate long-term academic problems, making learning difficult for
girls and boys.
Mental health problems, such as depression and anxiety in adolescence and
adulthood.

Personal Opinion
I believe that physical
punishment can be changed using positive discipline based on respect, dialogue
and the establishment of rules and limits, in this way we will have mentally
healthier adolescents and adults.

Conclusion
Discipline without violence is
more effective in guaranteeing the full development and good behavior of girls,
boys and adolescents. Not physically punishing does not mean letting children
do whatever they want. On the contrary, not using physical punishment means
stopping using violence and starting to use discipline.
